After the dust settled. . .

What a day and what an amazing race!!  Hopefully, after a rest, massage, and/or some Ibuprofen everyone is feeling fine.  Firstly, kudos to all 26 teams who participated in the first Amazing Race - Springfield Sports Club Edition.  It was a long day filled with many physical challenges and EVERY team finished the race. . ..BRAVO!!  There were a total of 17 pit-stops some of which proved to be more challenging that others.  The greatest number of pit-stops successfully completed by any team was 16.  The number of successfully completed pit-stops was the greatest weighted factor in scoring, with time being the secondary weighted factor.

After countless hours of planning and preparing for the event, it was great to see it come to life.  Just like the TV show, we saw: various ups and downs during the race, great team spirit and partnerships, some teams excel in areas where other teams struggled, teams implementing creative ways to tackle certain pit-stops or obstacles along the way, or anxiety levels rise when other teams caught-up with other teams at the Smith & Hughes Amazing Shuttle or at a pit-stop.  All of these things added to the experience in replicating the realities of what happens on the TV show.  We were pleased to see most people enjoying the race and our committee will review the feedback forms for your opinions and suggestions for improvements.

Devon Edie was busy snapping photos at every pit-stop and we'll soon have these available.  Also for your viewing pleasure, the A.D.H.O.C Entertainment Association/Chicken Daze will be providing a video of their Chicken & Egg Obstacle Course.

A variety of prizes were handed out at the end of the race. . .most of which were donated by Our Partners who generously supported this event.  Quite a few of you received gift certificates from DC Accounting which will come in handy close to tax time!

Final team rankings and other race info will be posted within a few days.

Thank-you is extended to Healthy Together Now and Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority for the project grant and support and the RM of Springfield.  A final thank-you again goes out to all the volunteers who helped make the event happen and all the businesses and organizations who supported and participated in the event.  To see the full listing, please click on Our Partners

The Springfield Sports Club will start-off our 3rd season of regular recreational sports programming for adults in the RM of Springfield on Wed.
